HISTORY OF BRAZILIAN BREAD
Original Gluten-Free Cheese Bread
The delicious Brazilian Cheese Bread (Pão de Queijo) recipe comes from Minas Gerais region of Brazil. Pão de Queijo has been known since the 18th century and still exists as a great addition to a morning cup of coffee.
Rumor has it that this bread appeared in farms where the quality of wheat flour was poor, thus replaced with tapioca starch. Later on, cooks began to add cheese to the dough, and baked the now-called cheese bread in wood-burning stoves.
Today we not only follow the classical recipe for our original bread, but also bake it with other ingredients to add more flavors and bring the bread to more meals and occasions.
Last but not least, because it is made with tapioca, Brazilian cheese bread is naturally gluten-free.
